Since it’s opening on November 8th, Sense Appeal has lured coffee enthusiasts away from their regular caffeine hubs. The trick? A better product.
Owner Peter Adamo tells me the company’s innovative approach to coffee distinguishes Sense Appeal from the rest. Adamo and co-owner Roberto Rota are currently investigating the science behind coffee roasting, an approach based on controlling and manipulating the more than 1,000 volatile compounds contained in coffee to yield the best product from the bean, a project supported by the Canadian government.
Sense Appeal is located in the lobby of the building at 96 Spadina Avenue. Though the seating area feels a tad industrial, the coffee shop proper is everything you’d want: lots of lighting, cool artwork, exposed brick and a handsome team behind the counter.
