Located on Peter St. Just south of Queen St West (same building as the Gap) Little Nicky’s Coffee shop is the newest addition to the Queen West coffee scene. Ideally situated in the heart of the Queen West shopping district Little Nicky’s Coffee shop is the best place to stop by and enjoy a nice cup of coffee while equipping yourself with some new merchandise.
The coffee shop’s interior is simple yet unique. The owner, Renee Bonise, has given the cafe a 1930’s retro inspired character. A few tables an old restored church bench along with an amazing marble oak bar make up the seating arrangements of the coffee shop. Little Nicky’s provides its patrons with a free Wi-Fi connection; all you need to do in order to surf the web is ask one of the friendly staff for the password and you’ll be well on your way of taking care of business. The coffee shop offers the regular assortment of espresso based beverages i.e. cappuccinos, lattes, and americanos. A superior tasting dripping coffee which is organic and fair trade is also offered along with a variety of teas. During my visit I found myself indulging in a caffeine frenzy. After ordering my usual double americano I still wanted more.
I had to get a second coffee, this time it was their regular dripping brew. So, I can easily vouch for the quality, flavour and aroma of the coffees that I enjoyed. What I found fascinating was that the staff were more than welcome to transform most hot beverages into chilly delights upon your request without labeling your beverage as “ice”. Keeping it simple works just fine with me. Freshly squeezed orange juice is also offered for sale, not something you see often in your ordinary Toronto coffee shop! However, the best has yet to come.
Little Nicky’s Coffee shop must be the only coffee shop in Toronto (at least to my knowledge) that besides baking its own cookies (which are amazing) has freshly made miniature doughnuts prepared on the spot upon costumer request. You can buy these doughy delights by the ½ dozen for only $2.75. Once you have a few it is almost a certainty that you will be ordering some more. If you don’t have a sweet tooth however, the coffee shop is well prepared.
There are delicious gourmet sandwiches for sale all prepared fresh from All the Best Foods. Overall Little Nicky’s Coffee shop is a must visit destination whether in the area shopping or just in the lookout for some good coffee. is open Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., and starting this month they will also be open on Sundays.
