If you ever find yourself on Queen St. East in the beaches area, chances are when the weather is nice and shinny, you should definitely visit Cafe Florentin. Situated at 2010 Queen St. E. this cafe is the ideal place to stop over before or after having visited the beach or having gone for a stroll in the wonderful neighborhood of the beaches. The cafe is right across the Kew Gardens so it’s not that difficult to spot it when on Queen Street. As you walk into the cafe you will immediately notice the hardwood floors and the several wooden tables scattered across the cafe floor. Walking through the cafe towards the bar the extensive variety of treats on display will definitely catch your attention.
It should be mentioned that all of the cafes pies and treats are baked in store. I had the opportunity to enjoy a raspberry muffin which was exquisite for only $1.5. There are morning pastries (veggie or Spanish croissants) for sale along with the ordinary pastries such as butter and almond croissants amongst others. You can also order an individual bun sized Panini for as little as $2.9. The cafe also offers salads for sale to be enjoyed on its own or to accompany your Panini. Cafe Florentin offers the regular assortments of coffee beverages for sale such as cappuccinos, lattes, and americanos however the cafe also serves a small variety of beers, wines and cocktails.
The environment in the cafe is relaxing. During my visit I encountered people working on their laptops, yes the cafe offers free Wi-Fi, others were chattering reading a book or just skimming through the newspaper. The staff was very friendly and they actually asked whether what they served you was enjoyable, something that honestly doesn’t happen to frequently in a cafe.
The only negative aspect of the cafe is its lack of a formal patio. There are only a couple of tables in the front of the store; however the cafes proximity to the park or the beach should leave you indifferent. Overall Cafe Florentin is a superb destination to enjoy your coffee, have lunch or even indulge in one of their home baked delights. 2010 Queen St. E.
