Definitely a well know destination in Leslieville, Bonjour Briosche has established itself as a stout contender in the competitive branch of the Queen East coffee neighbourhood. The cafe/bakery has a lot to offer. Inspired by a good old fashioned European cafe the interior of Bonjour Briosche will surely make you reminisce of some old trip to France.

Hardwood floors a few wooden tables and a big bar filled with tasty delights is what you will encounter when you step into the cafe from Queen Street. The cafe walls in their majority are decorated with art except for the left wall (as you enter) which is devoted to promoting the culinary achievements of the establishment. Overall the interior decor is nothing short of what you would expect to see in a French sophisticated cafe.

Bonjour Briosche even has a patio equipped with overhead heaters for those chilly times of the year. I must admit however that the patio was not the most comfortable patio I have ever encountered. Tight fits and uncomfortable seating arrangements did not live up to the interior of the cafe. Enough time spent on appearances. Bonjour Briosche has a well equipped brunch menu. You can order anything from a Quiche to a black forest sandwich not to mention all the desserts offered for sale. During my visit I enjoyed a piece of chocolate cake ($5) along with an ice latte ($3.50).

I must admit that the cake quite exceptional, full of flavour served with real whip cream. My friend had a bacon cheddar and spinach tart ($8.5) which was just astounding! You can also enjoy tarts, omelettes, and soups on the savoury side of things. For those with a sweet tooth you will also be able to find a big variety of cakes and croissants. It should be mentioned that all foods, savoury and sweet, are prepared in store baked in the back. I find it most appealing when everything is made on site; it gives your senses that extra boost!

The cafe also bakes its own bread daily, so it should come as no surprise if during your visit you encounter people just coming in to pick up a fresh baguette. Bonjour Briosche is definitely one of those destinations worth visiting whether in the area or just a fan of a good coffee and brunch establishment. Don’t visit to late however as the cafe operates Tuesday to Sunday 8am to 4pm. toronto coffee shops
